Make this adorable Bushel and a Peck Sign to decorate a nursery or child’s room. Step by step tutorial and free printable template so you can make one too!
BUSHEL AND A PECK
I just love the song, I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck, don’t you? My mom used to sing it to my siblings and I when we were growing up. I have also sung it to my children. Many of you have had the same tradition in your homes growing up and now.
I made a pillow a while ago with the saying and have it in my office. I thought it would be fun to have it displayed in an area in my home that more people would see, so I made a painted burlap sign that was similar to the I LOVE You a Bushel and a Peck Pillow.
VALENTINE’S DAY SIGN
This sign is so easy to make! You can make one too and you don’t need a fancy machine to make it. But if you do have a fancy machine, like the Cricut Explore, you can make it too by clicking on the buy it now button below and then changing your material you are making to freezer paper to cut your stencil.
Materials needed:
- Wood (size you need)
- Freezer Paper (I found mine at Wal-Mart but you can also get it here)
- Burlap or Canvas Material
- Fabric Paint(s)
- Stencil Brush or Paint brush
- Scissors
- Iron
If you need to make it the old fashioned way, simply print this I LOVE You a Bushel and a Peck Printable Template, and then cut out the template on some freezer paper. Make sure that the shiny side of the paper is facing down.
Iron the freezer paper onto some burlap or canvas material with the shiny side down. Stencil with some fabric paint the lettering in the colors you want. Cut a board to fit the painted burlap and either paint the board or stain it. Glue the burlap to the board. Take some black brads or carpet tacks and hammer them into the wood around the edges of the burlap. I just placed mine in the four corners but you could put them all around the burlap if you wish.
Display it in your home. I think a fun place to display this sign would be in a child’s room, or a nursery! This would also make a great gift for a new mother or a mother-to-be…or for a grandmother who used to sing this to you as a child!
I haven’t decided if this is where this sign will be permanently be displayed. I am thinking of moving into my youngest daughter’s room, but for now…it will sit here till I can find it’s permanent spot!
Do you have a favorite saying or song that you sing to your own children? I would love to hear about it!

This is a great song and a cute sign. I love singing A Happy Family to my girls. Are you LDS?

This is so cute! I love how simple it is, but packs a big punch with adding to the space. Love it!

Great post.

Thank You.
Thank you!
My favorite is “You Are My Sunshine”.
I love that one also.
How did you put the saying on your mirror? Is that a special kind of vinyl?
No special vinyl. Just some vinyl that I bought at our local craft store.
My husband and sister made one for a Valentines gift for my daughter. I have ALS, she is my caregiver and sings that song to me. It turned out beautiful. Wish I could upload a picture of it!
Kris- That is so wonderful! I would have loved to have seen it!
We did with gray burlap, silver tacks on a dark wood. My sister used freezer paper transfer and colored over the letters with sharpies. Thanks for such an awesome DIY!
Kris- Sounds so lovely! I would love to see a picture.
