HOW TO MAKE BANG BANG SHRIMP PASTA
It seems that most of us moms are super busy and find ourselves on the run a lot these days…especially in May. May is worse than December at our house as far as busy-ness goes. So I am always looking for easy dinner recipes that are also 30 minute meals!
This is also one of those recipes my whole family loves to eat. It has so much flavor and the bang bang sauce is delish! If you are not a fan of shrimp, this can easily be switched up by throwing some cooked chicken in place of the shrimp!
IS BANG BANG SPRIMP SPICY?
Our bang bang sauce is a sweet and spicy mayonnaise-based sauce that is good on several different pastas, rice and meats like chicken, fish, shrimp and even fried potatoes. This creamy and tangy sauce is made with delicious spices including sweet Thai chili sauce and red pepper flakes. But if you want this a little spicier with some more heat, you can add a little of your favorite hot sauce or sriracha sauce.
HOW TO MAKE BANG BANG SHRIMP SWEET
If you prefer a sweeter sauce you can omit the hotter spices and drizzle a couple teaspoons of honey into the mayo for a sweeter version of bang bang sauce.
HOW TO GARNISH THIS DISH
We love to add a little extra garnish to our Bang Bang Pasta and Shrimp. This serves two functions. It adds a little flair and and little extra taste to this dish. We have added the following:
- crushed peanuts
- chopped green onions
- chopped parsley
- chopped cilantro
- fresh squeezed lime juice
- fresh squeezed lemon juice

HOW TO MAKE BREADED BANG BANG SHRIMP
Yes! We don’t bread our shrimp for this anymore because my daughter has Celiac Disease. But you totally can and it is super easy to do so!
You will simply coat shrimp in buttermilk. Then, mix 1/2 cup cornstarch, 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 panko bread crumbs, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, and a pinch salt in a small bowl and toss each shrimp in the mixture.
Heat up some peanut oil (or vegetable oil) in a large skillet on medium-high heat and then fry the breaded shrimp on each side for a couple of minutes until it is throughly cooked.
